My first run of the week. Our hectic holiday schedule and the personal safety issues of being out on your own at quiet times in Cape Town have really hampered my running this week. I’ve eaten most of the food in South Africa and not stuck to the no alcohol while training rule. It’s all taken it’s toll. I found a spare hour though so went out to do 10k. I didn’t want to push to hard, but didn’t want to be to easy either as the distance was going to be shorter so aimed for a 5:30/km pace with a final km under 5 minutes.

Run went to plan. It was beautiful running through Cale Town and then along the beach promenade to Sea Point. I passed the stadium where they played the 2010 World Cup Final. Saw some pretty seascapes. Under the shadow of the mountain they call Lion’s Head. Maybe you can make out the Lion Head at the top on the left hand side, then saw a bit of a pile up on the way back.

Interesting sights. Lovely run. Feels good to have got out there. On to Jo’Berg tomorrow.
