This was my toughest run ever! Everything is up and down here. All the hills. The sun was blazing – an hour into my run the weather was 28 degrees. My route took me through some poor areas and whilst there was never any threat, it brought a bit of stress. I had taken a drink, but didn’t have any gels available. So I guess that hitting the wall was inevitable. It happened at 27km which meant the last 5km were literally telling myself “just one more step” 5000 times.
There is something so liberating about taking yourself to the edge. I’m shattered but exhilarated. I was worried my training might go to pot on holiday, so getting this 20 miles done was a huge bonus.
