Today I had the opportunity to run with a friend of my hosts, Kirsten. Kirsten is a PT who loves exercise. A marathon finisher too, so I was looking forward to a run and a chat. We ran along the promenade in Ballito and then up a hill (obviously) and along a bit of road, before looping back along the beach. The tide was coming in, so we had a few stretches of rock clambering too. It was beautiful with a gentle breeze off the ocean. The sun on our faces, fresh air in our lungs, this may have been the prettiest run I’ve ever done.
There were plenty of other runners out and everyone exchanged a Hi, Hello or Howzit, even a high 5 from one friendly guy. It’s so easy chatting to other runners, Running is the most international of languages. Kirsten, thank you, you were wonderful and inspiring company. 5 miles of pure running pleasure.
Still have to try and work in something over 20k on Sunday. Gulp.
