So today instead of a long run. (Plan said 24km) I joined most of my best running friends for the ASICS London 10k. This is a brilliant event around a lovely closed road route in central London. It always seems to be hot so hydration was a big factor.

Today was a celebration more than a training run. A celebration of friendship and a celebration of #TeamSpinal Most especially we were celebrating Rav completing 500 days of RunStreak. This was Rav’s first race and 10k was a bit further than the 3 to 5 miles she usually runs. We’d chatted about pacing and Rav said she just wanted to try and go sub 1 hour. Whilst we started as a group, some sped off and some eased up until it was Robin, Rav and I left together. We kept up a nice steady 5:30/km ish pace for the first few km. After 8km Rav was feeling the strain but to her credit kept pushing through the last 2km even coming up with a sprint finish. The chip time was 55:10 an amazing achievement

What I love about this sport of ours is that you can get so much pleasure in the achievement of others and that the friendships you build have real meaning.
