Week 13! I can hardly believe it. The training’s nearly done. This is supposed to be the week my taper begins. As a marathon novice, I expected a much easier week. Hardly!! 7 miles today, 13 on Friday and 18 on Sunday. Still plenty of running ahead.

On Sunday a lot of my friends are running the Adidas one hour run. That has inspired me this morning. I didn’t want to push too hard, but I did want to try and squeeze my seven miles inside the hour. It turned out that this is a lovely pace to run at and I stayed consistent all the way through, just pushing a bit over the last 2km to make sure I came in under 60. A bit of variety in your runs really helps to keep it fresh and fun.
